Spring and Summer -All about Babies and Family…

I’m sorry I haven’t been in touch for several months.  Don’t worry, I didn’t fall off the planet!  I had two new grandsons!!! I totally got caught up in the excitement of baby showers, a lot of babysitting, and large family gatherings.

In Seattle…

William and Gabriel Shalloway in Seattle

Bryan and Britney (the B’s) gave us the wonderful Gabriel Elias Shalloway, born April 14, his due date. Besides having the fun of being with the new family, Arlene, Britney’s mom, came out for two weeks.  It was great to co-grandma with one of my favorite people. Everyone was elated except for Oliver, their little dog.  He was used to getting all of the attention.

Steve and Hailey gave us the amazing William Alan Shalloway on May 5th, three weeks early . My husband, Alan was especially moved to have a namesake. Of course Bob (age 13), Katie (age 12)and Grace(age 10) are great big siblings.  When I asked Katie how she felt about Willian, it was perfect - ”I love him… He does cry a lot.”

Alan and I are so lucky to live only a 10 minute walk to Steve and Hailey’s house.  Our drive is about 30 minutes to both of the other families.

Aliza and her family are within walking distance to “the B’s”.  Hanah, (age 10) is another cousin and fun friend to Gabriel and William.

In Atlanta…

Sam, Margo, Olivia, Mike Shalloway in Atlanta

Mike, Sam, and Olivia (age 12, almost 13)and Margo ( age 10) came out for most of July and met the new family members.  Besides the brief family camping trip,  there were lots of other fun activities between all the family and especially with the cousins: swimming at the health club, a specially organized “facial spa treatments” by the all the girls for the adult women (as I was thrilled to get!), sleepovers and great meals

I love being  “Grandma Leigh” to more new babies. I’m glad we decided to return to the Pacific Northwest so I can watch these wonderful children grow up.

I have started writing my next book “Journey Back to Me” so I will be unbelievably busy as fall begins.  I am in the middle of everything that goes with beginning: research, character overview, the plot with it’s twists and turns; and of course, a journey back to Hilltown. I look forward to more blog visits with you all!
